RITA CAMILLE RECZNIK
Rita Camille Recznik, 89, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, Ohio. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final days.
Camille was born on March 25, 1934, to Charles Patrick and Mabel (Mertz) Henry in Amherst, Ohio. Throughout her school years, she was an excellent student, receiving multiple high honors in state competitions. She also enjoyed playing sports and was a Cleveland Indians fan. Camille graduated from Amherst High as valedictorian in 1951.
Afterward, Camille took a job as a clerk/typist at Nelson Stud Welding in Lorain. There she met her future sister-in-law Rose who introduced Camille to her brother Edward Recznik. They began dating in 1952, and right away Edward began introducing Camille to friends and family as his “future.”
The couple married on Sweetest Day, October 17, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Camille’s hometown. By God’s infinite mercy, they went on to have nine children.
Camille devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and later, grandchildren. She enjoyed going to daily Mass, praying, singing, and reading spiritual books, health books, and articles.
Camille was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edward Recznik (1929-2005); her father and mother, Charles and Mabel Henry; sister, Shirley Ann (Helmut) Oeftering; brother, John “Jack” (Rose) Henry, and their spouses.
Camille is survived by all nine of her children: Mark (Anne) of Wintersville, Ohio; Kim (Daniel) Feeley of Toronto, Ohio; Joel (Joan) of Toronto; Raymond of Wintersville; John (Mary) of Manchester, Michigan; Charles of Toronto; Rose (Dino) Orsatti of Wintersville; Ann of Richmond, Ohio; and Dawn (Kevin Joe) Harris of Richmond.
She is survived by 35 grandchildren: Bridget (Matthew) Rudzki; Monica (Jackson) Howey; Mary Clare (Benjamin) Schweitzer; Theresa (Maximilian) McManus; Christina Recznik; Brian (Melanie) Feeley; Michael (Rebekah) Feeley; John (Chiara) Feeley; Joseph (Angelica) Feeley; Sr. MaryRose of the Resurrection Feeley, SOLT; AnneMarie (Nicholas) Orsay; Catherine (Phillip) Sullivan; Bernadette (Harrison) Juliano; Regina (Aaron) Kelly; JoelMichael (Bernadette) Recznik; Maria (Richard III) Wismer; Mark (Grace) Recznik; Daniel (Naomi) Recznik; Joseph Recznik; John Recznik; Anna Recznik; Clare Recznik; Matthew Recznik; Edward (Rebecca) Recznik; John (Laura) Recznik; Joan (Ryan) Milne; Hollie (Jonathan) Hoover; Heather (John) Koehnlein; Michael (Grace) Orsatti; Alyson Orsatti; Kevin Joe Jr. (Jacqueline) Harris; Maximilian (MaryCeline) Harris; Benjamin (Kateri) Harris; Camille “Lily” (Wiatt) Gallaher; and Rose Harris.
Camille is also survived by 66 great- grandchildren.
Visitation for Camille will be held at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville on Wednesday, January 24th, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Fisher Catholic Church at 7457 State Route 152 in Richmond, on Thursday, January 25th, at 10:00 a.m., with open casket visitation from 9:30-9:55 a.m. prior to the funeral, also at St. John. A Rite of Committal will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville.
