TIMOTHY PESTIAN
Timothy C. “Tim” Pestian, age 71, passed away on December 18, 2023, peacefully in his home in Hallandale Beach, FL. Born November 19, 1952, to the late Edward and Dolores (Casey) Pestian, Tim grew up on LaBelle in Steubenville. After graduating from Catholic Central High School in 1970, he attended ITT Tech in Dayton, OH and then worked for and later operated his family’s business, Vapor Jet, until retiring in 2020. He was strong in his faith and for many years was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto. He also served on the Diocese of Steubenville Buildings and Grounds Committee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gina (Simera) Pestian, brother, Eddie Pestian and niece, Michelle McKinstry. He is survived by his son Timothy “Timmy” (fiance Tiffany Borsch) Pestian and grandson Timothy “Tre” Pestian, his sister, Monica McKinstry, brothers, Kevin (Anita) Pestian, John (Sheri) Pestian and Mike Pestian and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife’s siblings and their families, to whom he was a father and grandfather figure to throughout their lives, including his sister-in-law, Michele (Bryan) Santin, brothers-in-law, Mike (Miriam) Simera and Tony Simera, nieces, Merissa (Bruce) McKinstry and Isabella Simera, nephew, Bryan (Julianne) Santin, great nieces, Mia and Ella McKinstry and great nephew, Fitz Santin.
Tim married Gina on June 1, 1973 and together they built a strong and loving family until her passing in 2019.
Their home was the beating heart both of their family and of the neighborhood, as their generosity knew no bounds.
They hosted every holiday, making their house “up on the hill” in Toronto the center of warm family gatherings. Tim was an excellent cook and enjoyed a good glass of wine and a fine cigar. He loved Hollywood Beach where he would play mini-golf and football with his son, nephews, nieces, and great nieces.
An ardent sports fan, he rooted hard for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates and attending the Kentucky Derby was one of his favorite sporting events. An avid golfer, he was a member of Williams Country Club and would hold an annual Vapor Jet Golf Tournament at Speidel Golf course at Oglebay Resort. Above all, though, he was a family man. He deeply loved his wife and missed her dearly. His greatest joy was being a father to Timmy and grandfather to Tre and the pride that he felt for them cannot be put into words. Genuinely kind and a friend to many, Tim was very well-thought of by family and friends alike. Much loved by his family, “Big Tim” will remain in our hearts forever.
Calling hours will be held Monday January 15, 2023 at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville from 2:00pm until the time of services at 4:00pm. Fr. Thomas Vanetti will officiate. Offer condolences, www.mostifuneral home.com
