VIRGINIA SHEPHERD
Virginia Mayhew Richards Shepherd of Weirton passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at PAM Health in Imperial PA. She was ninety-nine years old.
She was born on June 19, 1924, in New Cumberland, WV. Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Floyd Shepherd.
Virginia was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church since the 1950s. She was a highly active member serving on all committees over the years when she was young and able and attend bible study. She loved every minute of her opportunity to serve the Lord! Virginia enjoyed dancing and bowling well into her 90s! Virginia had many trials and tribulations over the years, but she would let you know the Lord was with her every step of the way.
Virgina always had a smile on her face even in the darkest of times. She had a true Christian spirit that exuded from her and a bounce in her step that you just knew was the happiness God had given her. Virginia played a significant role in raising her two grandsons. She wanted you to know that they were spoiled rotten but turned out to be wonderful husbands and fathers. A true testament to her hand in their lives.
Virginia leaves behind a considerable legacy of the life of Christ, a spirit of pull yourself up by the bootstrap and get on with it, and don’t worry be happy!
Virginia is preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Richards, daughters Barbara Staley Richards, and Joyce Prouty Richards, brothers Harry and James Mayhew, and sisters Marjorie Kempf and Goldie Spencer.
