LIDIA VALLAR

Lidia Vallar, 97, of Piney Fork, OH, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 in the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.

Lidia was born October 13, 1926, in Frisanco, Italy, daughter of the late Valentino and Luigia Santa (Muin) Roman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Desiderio, her son, Michael, great- grandson, Zachary Krulcik, two brothers, Sante and Primo Roman, and two sisters, Lena Filippi and Albina DiDomenico.

She retired from the Reynolds Nursing Home where she worked as a nursing assistant.

Lidia was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Piney Fork prior to its closing. There she served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and participated in many of the church functions. She later transferred her membership to St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale, OH.

Lidia loved to take trips with her senior group, play cards and bingo. She was known for her Italian cooking and loved to share it with her family and friends.

She was the matriarch of the family. Her love, kindness, and giving spirit was felt by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her daughter, Mara (Ken) Krulcik of Dillonvale; grandchildren, Eric (Alexis) Krulcik of Cincinnati, OH, Tera Tweedlie of Wintersville, OH, and Elizabeth (Brian) Backman of Sandpoint, ID; great- grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella, Samuel, and Anna Krulcik, Elijah Backman, and great- great-granddaughter, Erika Krulick.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will he held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 am at the St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale. The V. Rev. Father William Cross will celebrate, and burial will follow in the Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, OH.

Lidia’s family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff at the Gables Care Center, her second family, for their care and support over the years.
