ANTHONY PALIZZI
Anthony Joseph Palizzi, 85, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on January 3, 1939, in Follansbee, WV, a son of the late Camillo and Mary (Andrilli) Palizzi. In addition to his parents Anthony is preceded in death by a brother, Nick Palizzi; and three sisters, Helen Oxier, Rita Colantonio, and Anna Dugan.
He graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1958. He then spent six years in the Marines as a reservist. After 32 years he retired as a foreman in the BOP at Weirton Steel Corporation. Tony was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. For many years he was a member of the Follansbee Garibaldi Lodge and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. In his spare time he and Peggy liked to travel and go camping together.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Peggy (Davidson) Palizzi at home; four children; Toni Ann Nardo and husband, Mike, Traci Bright and husband, Mike, Jaymie Barnhart and husband, Jeff, and Joseph Palizzi and wife, Tina; five grandchildren, Alexandra Nardo, Michaela Nardo, Carissa Nardo, Caitlin Bright and Janna Poling and husband, Chris; one great grandson on the way; one sister, Rosie Barchiesi of Follansbee, WV; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home at 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 1017 Jefferson St. Follansbee, WV, with the Rev. Father Gerald Muoka as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV 26037.
