KAREN DARICE FIDAK

Karen Darice (Manning) Fidak, 71, of Stratton, OH, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Darice was born April 1, 1953, in Steubenville, daughter of the late John M. and Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Kortz) Manning.

She was a 1971 graduate of Toronto High School. Darice then enrolled and graduated from Radiology School at Ohio Valley Hospital.

Darice started her career in the Radiology Dept. at Ohio Valley Hospital and later transferred to the Toronto Clinic. She went back to work at the hospital (Trinity) as a medical assistant in the Occupational Health Dept. where she retired in 2015.

Darice attended St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto. Her greatest joy in life was being Brady’s ‘Hoo-Hoo’, the nickname he gave to his grandmother. Her world revolved around Blair and Brady’s school activities, events, and sports.

She leaves behind her son, Blair (Nicole) Fidak, and grandson, Brady Fidak of Toronto; sisters, Kim O’Brien (Jim Inskeep) of Marysville, OH, Shelley (Bill) Meyer of Toronto, and Janine (John) Gabis of Chillicothe, OH; brother, Patrick (Mai) Manning of Los Angeles, CA; ex-husband, Al (Donna) Fidak; nieces and nephews, Bridget (Jon) Appelfeller, Brook (Paul) Pivik, Brionne (Michel) Moore, Kate (John) Webster, Stefan (Sylvie) Gabis, Andrew Gabis, Dan Swanson, Cory Meyer, and Nychole, Ryan, Sean, Zachary, Logan, Ricky, Kyle Manning; several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10 from 1 PM to 6 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where her funeral service will follow at 6 PM. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate and the burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
