Born in Tyler County, WV, on July 30, 1935, Nancy was one of 12 children born to Amidy and Susan M. McGeorge Griffin.
At the age of 17, Nancy married Elden E. “Bud” Pratt when he returned from the Korean War. They spent the majority of their married life in Weirton, WV, where they were blessed with six children, 14 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great- grandchildren. Bud worked in the mill, and Nancy devoted her life to taking care of their home and family.
Nancy was known for her warm and welcoming nature, never meeting a stranger and always ready to embark on an adventure at a moment’s notice. Nancy enjoyed visiting flea markets, craft shows, and playing Bingo. She was famous for her delicious pancakes and fresh berry cakes.
Her love for travel took her to places far and near, including Hawaii, Niagara Falls, and river cruises. Nancy had a deep love for country music, with a special fondness for Bill Anderson. After the passing of her beloved husband Bud on May 19, 1997, she found love again with Harley Wise, Sr. They met at Country Friends in Colliers, WV, and shared many happy years together until Harley’s passing on May 19, 2014.
Nancy nourished her faith for years at the Weirton Alliance Church and found great joy in having a house full of grandchildren. Her faith and family were the cornerstones of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Elden E. “Bud” Pratt, her second husband Harley Wise, Sr., her three sons Albert, Howard, and Clark Pratt, her brothers Jimmy, Brantley, and Paul Griffin, her sisters Geneva Smith, Betty Pratt, Wilma Smith, and Mamie “Pudge” Moore, her grandson Luke, and her two great-granddaughters Jordan and Coraline.
