BETTY HAWKINS
Betty J. (Haught) Hawkins was born December 27, 1932, in Port Homer, OH. She passed away June 21, 2024, after a long, fulfilled 91 years of life.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and wife. She was also a devout Christian who was a longtime member of the Sycamore Tree Church in Follansbee, WV.
Betty was a lover of animals, having a pet cockatoo, Bobby, until she moved into Sienna Skilled Nursing in Wintersville, OH, where she enjoyed taking part in all of the social activities and getting her hair styled. Betty was a long-time member of the Polish National Alliance and was employed as a supervisor in the laundry department at Ohio Valley Hospital.
Betty was preceded in death by parents, Albert Haught and Margaret (Furbee) Haugh; first husband, Faye Scott; second husband, Jasper Hawkins; brother, Robert Haught; sister, Peg Thomas; and two daughters, Sandra McClurg and Robin Moodie.
Betty is survived by her son, William ‘Bill’ (Susan) Scott of Mingo Junction, OH; grandchildren, Robert McClurg of Wellsville, OH, Greg (Christine) McClurg of Beaver Falls, PA, Brad (Angie Conrad) McClurg of Eighty Four, PA, Angela Scott of Dayton, OH, Andria Scott of Columbus, OH, and many great- and great-great- grandchildren. Betty treasured time with her family and their pets. She will be remembered fondly and missed immensely.
Services will be held at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home located at 701 Findley St., Toronto, OH, on Friday, June 28, 2024. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until noon with the funeral service following. Burial will immediately follow at the Sugar Grove Cemetery located in Empire, OH. Pastor Steve Modranski, of Sycamore Tree Church, will officiate.
