CHARLES GRIFFIN

Griffin, Charles O., 94, of Weirton, W.Va, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, in The Weirton Geriatric Center.

Charles was born on 30 July 1929 at home in Hollidays Cove, W. Va., son of the late Otis and Anna Griffin. His life was always focused on love for God, faith, and family. He was a devoted husband for 61 years to Ruth Shingleton Griffin who passed away in 2009. He was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and served as President of the Nazarene Young People Society (NYPS) at The First Church of the Nazarene in Weirton. He has passed on a legacy instilled in his family of value, morals and steadfast faith. Charles worked at The Weirton Steel Company for over 42 years as a crane operator. God blessed him with an amazing talent in wood working where he created furniture, beautiful gifts for his children and grandchildren, cribs for his great grandchildren, and many other beautiful pieces. He built a house for his wife and children of three. He also enjoyed other hobbies of camping, fishing, golfing, and holding campfires for everyone to enjoy being together.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his second daughter, Vicki Falter and his third child, a son, Charles “Danny” Griffin, four sisters, Ruth Griffin, Alta Griffin, Mildred Barnhart and Sally Peterson, and brother, Edgar Griffin.

Charles is survived by his first child, a daughter, Marilyn (John) Jackson, son- in-law, Tom Falter, a daughter-in-law, Barbra Griffin, seven granddaughters, Sherri (Roger) Mapel, Angela (Rob) Blackburn, Susan (Ray) Ruscoe, Becky (Gary) Hostuttler, Crissy Boyer, Tiffiny (Andy) Griffin, and Amanda Thompson. He also leaves 16 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and his church family.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, June 23, from 6-8 pm, with additional visitation on Monday, 24 June from 1-2 pm with the Funeral Service beginning at 2 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 475 Colliers Way, Weirton, with Rev. Larry Barkley and Rev. Bennett Briles presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton.
