JUDITH POHJOLA

Entered into rest on Sunday, June 23, 2024, Mrs. Judith Ann Pohjola, 77, loving wife of Randall M. Pohjola, DDS.

Judy was born January 26, 1947 to Walter Robert Carpenter and Bernice Irene Carpenter, in Steubenville, Ohio. She graduated from Wintersville High School in 1965 and later graduated from West Liberty State College in West Virginia with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Judy married her high school sweetheart on December 20, 1969. She was a woman of God and devoted prayer warrior who prayed without ceasing for family friends and those in need. Judy was a gracious hostess and shared her compassion, love and friendship with everyone she met. An active and committed member in Protestant Women of the Military Chapel (PWOC) in Alaska, New York, Texas and Georgia. She sent hundreds of cards and delivered hundreds of meals to recognize birthdays, births, deaths, get well wishes to military spouses and their families. Judy received the “Yellow Rose of Texas Award” in 1999, an honorary commission recognizing outstanding Texas women for significant contributions to their communities. Her pastimes included gardening, baking, watching birds and spending time with her grandchildren. Judy maintained her sweet personality and love for ice cream to the end.

Judy was a loving wife to Randall Martin Pohjola, nurturing mother to Carrie Anna Pohjola Rankin and Scott Randall Pohjola, adoring “Mimi” to five grandchildren and a devoted sister to Patricia Sue Carpenter.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Chaplain Bob Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Judy.
