THOMAS KANZELBERGER
Thomas Theodore Kanzelberger, sweet beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly June 9th 2024, at the age of 19. He was born January 28, 2005 in Seattle, Washington, and moved to Steubenville, with his parents, brothers, and sister in 2015.
He attended Steubenville Catholic Schools, graduating in 2023 from Catholic Central High School.
At the time of his death, he was a rising sophomore in the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art at The Catholic University of America, studying to be a conductor under Maestro Simeone Tartaglione and Maestro Murry Sidlin. Thomas was in love with beauty – with the beauty of God, and the divine beauty reflected in the beauty of music and the performing arts. In his own words, he desired to “share the beauty of music, and help the love of theater and the performing arts grow and flourish throughout the country.”
His family and the many whose lives he touched knew a person bubbling and ebullient with the joy of the Holy Spirit, one who received life and music and all things as a gift, and wanted nothing more than for as many others as possible to see the beauty and the goodness he saw so clearly.
He is survived by his parents, Kirk and Mira Kanzelberger (Steubenville), by his brother Leo (Pasadena, California), his sister Sophia Arredondo (Dallas, Texas), his brother Petar (Steubenville), his brother George (Steubenville), and his brother Luke (Steubenville).
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:30pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the vigil prayers beginning at 4:00pm.
A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held Monday at 10:00am at Lanman Hall at Catholic Central and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will be held immediately after at Catholic Central Cafeteria.
