DOROTHY “DOT” COOPER

She was born on May 20, 1941, in Wellsburg, WV, a daughter of the late William and Irene (Yost) Lyle. In addition to her parents Dot is preceded in death by her husband David L. Cooper, a brother, Ronald H. Lyle; and a granddaughter, Heather Liddington

Dot was a bus driver for Brooke County Schools for 31 years. She enjoyed playing Bunko with her friends for over 50 years along with being a member of several other card clubs over the years. She was also a member of the Red Hats Club and AARP where she enjoyed many trips with other members. She could tell a joke in a heartbeat and had a wonderful sense of humor. She knew no stranger and would help anyone in need. She personally loved running into children she had on her school bus throughout the years and reminiscing with them. Dot was an avid crocheter in her spare time. She was Christian by faith and attended Community of Christ Church in Wellsburg, WV.

She is survived by four children, Gary E. (Connie) Cooper of Beech Bottom, WV, Elizabeth “Beth” Vergitz of Steubenville, OH, Dawn M. (Craig) Ford of Wellsburg, WV, Patricia I. (Mike) Farmer of Steubenville, OH; one brother, William F. (Pam) Lyle, Jr. of Hutchinson KS; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and again on Monday, July 15th from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Joy Leasure officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV 26037.

Inurnment will be held privately at Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army 332 N 4th St. Steubenville, OH or the Easter Seals at 651 Colliers Way Suite 301 Weirton, WV 26062 in memory of Dorothy.
