FRANK BOWERS

Frank Thomas Bowers 83, of Weirton, WV passed away July 1, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV. Frank was born October 1, 1940, in Wheeling, WV to the late John T. Bowers and Betty J. Kemper Bowers Ellis. Frank retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in Plant Security, was a lifetime member of the Brooke County Lodge #101 F.O.P., Brooke County Deputy Sheriff, and a Wellsburg City Police Officer. Frank was also a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Weirton, WV, and a friend of the Baptist Church in Weirton, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Jacob Ellis, one brother Jack Bowers and sister-in-law Janis, and one sister Betty Jane Bowers. He is survived by his loving wife Karen Sue Apitzsch Bowers whom he married Aug. 3, 1979, two daughters Lori Grimm and Darryl, and Mindy Matson and Eric all of Maryland, one sister Joan Bowers of Texas, three grandchildren Dr. Courtney Matson and husband Phil Fleischer, Rileigh Matson and partner Josh Ronkette, and Nicole Grimm and Partner Dan Sachs all of Maryland, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Visitation will take place July 5, 2024, from 10am until the time of service at 12 noon at Reasner Funeral Home LLC 1515 Charles Street, Wellsburg, WV, with Pastor William “Bill” Stout officiating.
