KAYE VAHALIK

Kaye Jean Vahalik (nee Pearce), born on September 18, 1962, in Steubenville, Ohio, passed away at the age of 61 on July 22, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Kaye leaves behind a legacy marked by her vibrant personality, and her love for her family.

Kaye graduated from Wintersville High School before pursuing higher education at Bowling Green State University. She dedicated 15 years of her career as the Director of Medical Records at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Hospital, which are now part of Ohio Health. Kaye also served in the same capacity at the Ohio State University Hospitals. Her professional commitment and expertise were well-respected by her colleagues and peers.

Her deep-rooted passion for Notre Dame football was well known, and Saturdays in the fall were often spent cheering on the Fighting Irish with an infectious enthusiasm that could rally even the most reluctant fan.

A talented tennis player, Kaye found joy and solace on the tennis court. Whether she was playing a spirited match with friends or watching a thrilling Grand Slam tournament, her love for the sport was evident. Her strong forehand and fierce competitive spirit were admired by all who had the pleasure of playing with or against her.

She also enjoyed crafts, where she expressed her creativity and meticulous attention to detail. Her amazing Christmas cards were cherished by all who received them. Kaye was a huge Jimmy Buffett fan and loved golf outings with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Jim Vahalik; sons, Jimmy and Mitchell Vahalik (Angela); grandchildren, Pearce, Winslow, Felicity, and Eliza. She is survived by her siblings, Earl Pearce, Jr. (Sharon), Kim Krugh (Rusty), Kelli Cook (Brian) and her sister-in laws, Mary Dean (William “Dean”) and Stephanie Vahalik. She also leaves behind 6 nieces and nephews and many friends from Medallion Country Club. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Carole and Earl Pearce, Sr., and in-laws, Evelyn and Steve Vahalik.

A celebration of life is currently being planned to celebrate Kaye’s life and legacy. Details will be announced, allowing family, friends, and acquaintances to pay their respects and commemorate her remarkable life.
