LARRY FERRELL
Larry Williard Ferrell, 73 of Follansbee, WV died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Valley Hospice Care Center North.
He was born on December 7, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Willard and Nancy (Burgess) Ferrell. In addition to his parents Larry is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lane Ferrell.
He graduated from Follansbee High School in 1968 and attended West Liberty State College. After college he served in the Army Reserves. Larry retired from Weirton Steel Corporation after 42 years as a motor inspector. He was a lifelong member of the Follansbee United Methodist Church and a trustee and served on several committees at church. Larry was a member of the 25-year club at Weirton Steel and a member of the American Legion Post 121 in Chester, WV. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his buddies along with building things in his garage.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Darlene (Kendall) Ferrell at home; two daughters, Carrie (Joe) Dobeck of West End, NC, and Stacie (C.J.) Grishkevich of New Port Richie, FL; four grandchildren, Taylor (Ben) Fowler and Jayden Dobeck, Hunter Grishkevich and companion Megan and Hayden Grishkevich and companion Ally; one sister, Linda (Chuck) Cunningham of Follansbee, WV; two sisters-in-law, Stephanie Spataro, Bobbie Stromeyer and companion Larry, and brother-in-law David (Carla) Kendall, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Friday, July 12th from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 PM. and again on Saturday, July 13th from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am with Christina Parnell officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV 26037.
Interment will follow at St. John Haven of Rest Cemetery in Colliers, WV.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Chester Newell Honor Guard and the Army Honor Guard.
