MINISTER THOMAS AREHART
Minister Thomas Arehart, 77, of New Manchester, went home to the Lord on August 22, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson’s, with his loving family at his side. He was born on September 21, 1946 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of the late George and Alice (Dawson) Arehart. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Bailey and two brothers, George Shamp and William Arehart.
Tom was a 1964 graduate of Oak Glen, and he attended Lake Mount School of Christian Evangelism. He retired from Weirton Steel. He was also retired from his ministry, formerly working for Newell First Christian Church and LaBelleview Christian Church. Tom loved working in his garden and sharing it’s produce with family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife Joyce (Freeman) Arehart, whom he married in 1964. A daughter, Janet (Frank) Fuccy, of New Cumberland, two sons, James (Kelly) Arehart, of New Cumberland and Joseph (Lesley) Arehart of Ohioville, Pa.; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, JoAnne (Mike) Burkhart, of Dover, Ohio and Terri Staley of Rogers, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received on Monday August 26, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 am. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell where Military honors will be held by Chester V F W and American Legion.
