SARA SWEARINGEN

Sara Swearingen, 81, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away on August 17, 2024 at Sienna Skilled Care, Wintersville. She was born March 30, 1943 in Bloomingdale, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Phillips) Newburn. In addition to her parent’s she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Doc” Swearingen; sisters, Dorothy Pauline Siragusano, and Carolyn Brown; brothers, Robert and James Newburn; stepson, James Swearingen and stepdaughter, Bev Nicholson.

She was a member of Harmony Methodist Church and was employed by Jefferson-Harrison Farm Service.

Sara is survived by step son, Joseph (Sloane) Swearingen; step daughters, Nancy Maurer of Richmond, OH and Janet Edwards of East Springfield, OH; 10 step grandchildren, Gretchen (Mark) Nightingale, Michael (Vanessa) Maurer, Jimmy (Kara) Swearingen, Bryan (Nikki) Swearingen, Courtney (Ryan) Clancey, Heidi (Trevor) Koontz, Allison (Brian) Mansfield, Paula Nicholson, Janelle (Mika) Killgore, Britt Edwards; 17 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Valley Hospice and Sienna Skilled Care for their compassion and care for Sara. Per her wishes there will be no services and private burial will take place at East Springfield cemetery.
