She taught mathematics at St. Peter’s School (Steubenville OH), before becoming Director of Financial Aid (Mission College -CA and Brevard Community College – FL) ending her professional career at the University of New Mexico.
She fiercely fought her cancer for five years, having been given a two-year projection. Father Michael Kelly (Franciscan University), from St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, administered Last Rites. Her husband was bedside, providing comfort, holding her hand, at the end.
Tammy loved her dogs and supported multiple dog charities. She was co-pilot, for many Pilot-N-Paws rescue flights, including one out of Jefferson County Airport. She has flown over 100 dogs, from kill shelters to forever homes. She appeared on CNN news and in a documentary promoting these flights.
In life, she was fearless. Before cancer, you could find her skydiving, rappelling, spelunking, parasailing, skindiving or motorcycle riding. She traveled the world seeing places like Bali, New Zealand, Australia, England, Russia, France, Canada, Mexico and Guam. While in Italy, in a lucky happenstance, she attended a Pope John Paul’s Audience and was seated five rows away, from his holiness.
She was extremely proud and promoted her hometown of Steubenville and Jefferson County, wearing Jefferson County Humane Society, Ft. Steuben, Steubie U, Stampede, Dean Martin Festival, or Parks and Recreation shirts during her travels.
She is being interred at Sunset Hills Cemetery; Bozeman, Montana, near Yellowstone National Park, a favorite vacation spot.
