BETTY ASHCRAFT
Betty Ashcraft, 81 of New Cumberland, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born in New Cumberland on October 2, 1942, the daughter of the late James and Myrtle (Brown) Moore. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jane Ashcraft; two brothers, James and Sam Moore; two sisters, Ernestine Sprouse and Mary Jane Moore.
Betty was a life member of the New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department, attended the New Cumberland Christian Church, and formerly served on the street committee in New Cumberland.
Betty is survived by her loving family, her husband John Ashcraft, whom she married on September 28, 1971; a daughter, Johanna Ashcraft (Alex) of TNN.; two sons, John (Deanna) Ashcraft, of Maryland, and Jack (Lori) Ashcraft of New Cumberland. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Chupa, of Weirton and Nancy Shields of New Cumberland.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Nixon Funeral Home of New Cumberland from 1 to 3 pm and 5 to 7 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday September 16, 2024. Interment will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.
