RICHARD BALSER
Richard E. ‘Dick’ Balser, 93, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.
Dick was born April 13, 1931, in E. Liverpool, OH, son of the late Glesner ‘Ted’ Balser and Lois (House) Hampson.
Dick was retired from the Lorillard Tobacco Co., where he worked as a sales rep for over 20 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed overseas during the Korean War.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto and the Knights of Columbus. Dick loved to golf, was an avid reader, and was very dedicated to his family.
Dick leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann (Demko) Balser, whom he married August 6, 1960; daughter, Tracy (Doug) Poole of Columbus, OH; son, Todd (Lori) Balser of Toronto; brother, Jack Balser; and sister, Sharon Kuntze; four grandchildren, Lucas (Caroline) Poole, Matthew Poole, Sarah Poole and Carmine (Caroline) Cesario, and four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Theo, Bobby and TJ.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate with interment to follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Post 86.
There will be additional visitation at the church from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be directed to the church or Primetime of Steubenville. www.jefosterfh.com.
