EARL McLAUGHLIN III

He was born on August 22, 1944, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Earl Charles and Dorothy (Branch) McLaughlin Jr. In addition to his parents Earl is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Ross Tennant, Clayton Bane; and a nephew Eric Bane.

He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1963 and earned his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University. Earl was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he was an Engineer on the biggest steam engine in the mill.

He is survived by four brothers, Alan “Mole’ (Carol) McLaughlin of Washington, PA, Thomas (Donna) McLaughlin of Dallas, WV, Patrick (Jodi) McLaughlin of Wellsburg, WV, Jay (Carol) McLaughlin of Wheeling, WV; three sisters, Joanne Bane of Wellsburg, WV, Doris “Dorie” Tennant of Bethlehem, WV, Tina (Matthew) Trapanotto of Murrysville, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy of the Word at 1:00 pm with Father Justin Golna Officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV 26037.

Inurnment will be held privately at Brooke Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Ohio Valley Veteran Memorial Squad.
