VIRGINIA NEWTON
Virginia Ellen Cooke Newton, 97 of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away November 20, 2024, at The Inn at Sarasota Bay Club, Sarasota, FL.
She was born October 29, 1927, in Wheeling, WV to the late Charles and Elinor Britt Cooke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Newton, two brothers Keith and William Cooke.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Burdette (Luther) of Monks Corner, SC, Mary Geisel (Edward) of Wheeling, WV, Elinor Newton of Baytown, TX, Cynthia “Cindy” Godby (John) of Sarasota, FL, eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will take place on Monday November 25, 2024 from 11a.m. until the time of service at 1p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg, WV, with Pastor Dan Harry officiating.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV
