VIRGINIA RYBKA
Virginia Lee Rybka, 82, a lifelong resident of Weirton, WV, passed away on November 20, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on October 31, 1942, in Weirton, she was one of two children born to William A. and Clara DiFabbio White, Sr.
Virginia graduated from Weirton Madonna High School as part of its second graduating class and proudly earned the honor of being the school’s first Prom Queen. Her work ethic was unmatched, dedicating 61 years of her career as a secretary for Starvaggi Industries, serving with loyalty and professionalism under Mike Starvaggi, Don Donnell, James O’Brien, Mike Wehr, and Luke Myers. She also sold Avon.
A feisty and spirited woman, Virginia had an unmatched energy and a zest for life. She was a devoted and proud mother who successfully raised three children as a single parent, balancing her work with family life. Known for her impeccable style, Virginia was always a picture of grace and elegance, matching from head to toe.
Virginia was a member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. She enjoyed the camaraderie of her sorority sisters and her card club ladies, however nothing brought her greater joy than her family. Her life was centered around her children and grandchildren, and she never missed a game or event they participated in.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Clara White, Sr.
She will be remembered with love and admiration by her two sons, Shawn Allan Rybka, Jason Patrick (Adriane) Rybka, and her daughter, Diahanna Paige (Matt) Shafer; her beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia Shafer and Clara and Santino Rybka; her brother, William A. “Billy” (Terrie) White, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Marlene (Mike) Runkel.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 PM until 8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church Monday at 10 AM.
Fr. John Soplinski will preside.
