Janet Fay (Schumacher) Riggs, 80 of Follansbee, WV passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center.
Janet was born on February 9, 1944 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of the late Harold Schumacher and Agnes (Legge) Schumacher.
Janet worked many years for More for Less, Riesbeck's and Family Dollar. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Follansbee. Many will remember Janet for her love of dancing with her husband to Oldies and Country, listening to Bluegrass in addition to attending festivals, playing Bingo and taking long drives with her husband, Lonny.
In addition to parents, Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Lonny Riggs Sr.
Janet is survived by her four sons, Lonny Riggs Jr. and his wife, Jayda of Follansbee, WV, Charles "Bill" Riggs and his wife, Michele, Colliers, WV, Denny Riggs and his wife, Hope of Canton, OH and Joshua Riggs and his wife, Carol of Weirton, WV, eight grandchildren, Lonni Blair Baker and husband, Devin, Emma Jade Riggs, Nathan Riggs, Sara Riggs and companion, Quintan Pizer, Tyler Riggs and wife, Alexis, Justin and wife, Gabby, Justin T. Riggs and Madison Riggs and 10 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Thursday, January 9 from 10:00 until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV, with Pastor Tim Colvin, officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, C/o James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037.
