DARRELL MILLER
Darrell Eugene Miller, 88, of Steubenville passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV. Born on October 25, 1936, in Altoona, PA, Darrell was a man whose life was characterized by service, faith, and an unwavering commitment to his community.
A proud veteran, Darrell served his country as a Sergeant in the Air Force. After his military service, he continued to serve his community as the owner and operator of Miller Grocery and Hardware, where he was known for his generous spirit and the personal attention he gave to each customer. Darrell’s dedication to public safety and service was further exemplified in his career as a State Highway patrol dispatcher.
Darrell’s life was marked by a deep faith, which he lived out as a Ruling Elder at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. His commitment to serving others and sharing his faith was an integral part of who he was. He found joy in singing in the church choir and had a love for jazz music. Darrell’s selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, from the way he ran his business to his interactions with friends and strangers alike.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene, and his son, Daryl. Darrell’s legacy continues through his loving daughters, Susan Miller, Cynthia (Miller) Scott, Julia Miller, foster daughter Susie Shook, and his grandchildren, Amanda Miller, her fiance Brad Moore, Ben Miller, Caitlin and Josh Tysz, Keenan and Catie Scott, Caleb Scott, Michael Pace, Steven Pace, and Michael Williams. He was also a proud great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. All will miss his stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his embrace.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Dee Kovach will officiate and burial will take place at a later date.
