DAVID MOIO

David C. Moio, 79, of Steubenville, departed this world unexpectedly on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was very proud of his longstanding employment as a Pipefitter at Weirton Steel from the age of 18 to February 27, 2006, when his last coil was run, a total of 44 years of service. His work ethic was second to none. No matter what obstacles would befall him, he would always be sure to provide for his family. Beyond the factory, you could often find him fixing many things around his home or helping others with their own projects.

He was a man of many passions. On most weekends, you could find him driving his boat and enjoying the sun on his face, with the hopes of snagging “the big one.” He was also a lover of the ocean and made sure to take his family to Myrtle Beach, SC every year. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching war documentaries in his sitting room with his trusty pup sidekick, Gizmo. Undeniably, the most paramount aspect of his life was his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Moio. They were married for 58 years and together for 60.

Dave was a Provider and Protector for his three children, who will miss him dearly: Nicole Moio, Brandi Burkey (Mike) of Steubenville, OH, and David Moio (Katie) of Weirton, WV.

His characteristic laugh will be missed by his many grandchildren: Kiara, Desmond, Jade (Herb), Brianna (Shane), Zoe (Rickie), and great-grand children (Gemma, Gracia, Julian, Jameson, & Ariah), whom he adored. He was the type of person who would readily get down on the floor to play with them and display a radiant smile the entire time. He is also survived by his nephews: Richard, Michael, & Todd and Nieces: Debbie & Michele.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Betty, brothers Frank and Richard, and grand-daughter Ariel.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 am until the time of services at 1 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Fr. Matthew Gossett will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
