GLORIA PITCOCK

Gloria “Sue” Center Pitcock, 80 yrs, passed away on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 in Riverside, California.

She was born and raised in New Cumberland, WV to the late Williard and Genoa (Fryer) Center. She graduated from New Cumberland High School in 1962 and the Ohio Valley School of Nursing in Wheeling, WV in 1965. Prior to relocating to Southern California in 1983, she was active in community affairs. She and her husband, Ron Pitcock, were the original members of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Reserves. They volunteered hundreds of hours to assist with Hancock County Public Safety. She also taught one of the first EMT classes in the State of West Virginia. She was instrumental in organizing the New Manchester Area Civic Association, of which she served as President for several years.

Her 40 year nursing career encompassed Hospital Nursing, Occupational Health, and Home Health. She also worked at United Airlines as a Customer Service Representative.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 53 years, Ron Pitcock in 2019 as well as her two brothers, Gene Center of Globe, AZ and Jack Center of Show Low, AZ. She is survived by her sister Linda Seiter of Hammondsville, OH and her 3 children, Tammy Pitcock Eastman of Tucson, AZ, Wendy Garza of Riverside, CA and Scott Pitcock of Pittsburgh, PA. She has four grandchildren, Nikki Garza of Corona, CA, Trevor Garza of Riverside, CA, Brendan Pitcock of Nashville, TN and Elian Pitcock of Pittsburgh, PA. Along with the children are many beloved nieces and nephews Davy Center, Yvonne Center Ferrari, Erik Center and Steve Heise.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
