RUTH CUNNINGHAM
Ruth Louise Cunningham, aged 96, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Lutz, FL. Born on January 25, 1929, Ruth’s life was marked by her radiant spirit, characterized by an abundance of love and laughter.
Ruth was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Wildwood, FL, where she actively participated and formed many lasting bonds within her community.
Her hobbies brought much joy to her life; she had a passion for planting flowers, caring for animals, and baking. Known in her youth for her delicious pies and cinnamon rolls, Ruth also loved to travel with her husband Jack to various National Parks.
In her later years, she enjoyed watching the birds, butterflies, and squirrels that visited her garden.
Preceding her in death were her parents, David and Gertrude King; her siblings, Evelyn Robinson, Bernard King, and Leo King; her beloved husband of 64 years, Jack Cunningham; and her son, Bruce Cunningham. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carol Cunningham Thomas; many loving friends and extended family; Rick Thompson, who was like a son to her; and her granddogs, who brought her immense joy.
Graveside services will be held at Fort Steuben Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the First Baptist Church of Wildwood, FL, continuing her legacy of kindness and community support.
