WILLIAM SWICK

William Steve “Bill” Swick, 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, in the Country Club Manor in Steubenville, OH.

Bill was born November 3, 1946, in Steubenville, son of the late Steve W. and Pearl D. (Zelasko) Swick. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Maggie” (Biddle) Swick and two sons, Michael and William “Billy” Swick, II.

After high school, Bill was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He was in the First Div. Big Red Infantry and received two Purple Hearts.

Bill worked as a Journeyman/Wireman for the Steubenville IBEW Local #246 until his eventual retirement. He worked on many major projects including Heinz Field, PNC Park, Cardinal Plant, Sammis Plant and Weirton Steel.

His memberships included the St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, Toronto Eagles, Toronto American Legion Post #86, Wellsville VFW, Toronto Rod and Gun Club and Toronto Sportsmans Club.

He loved to hunt and fish, having participated in bass tournaments all over the Ohio Valley and beyond. He was very active in coaching youth sports when his children were younger. Bill was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, and he will be remembered by many for his very giving heart.

Bill leaves behind six daughters, Tonya (Larry) Eckstein of Massillon, OH, Shanley (Joe) Allen of E. Liverpool, Valerie Swick of Toronto, Stephanie (Shawn) Tewell of Martinsburg, WV, Lida (Todd) Mayhew of Toronto, and Andrea Swick of Richmond; three sons, Ricky (Wendy) Swick of Austintown, OH, Stephen (Dawn) Swick of Idaho, and Frank Swick of Austintown; two sisters, Ann Rita Patton of Westerville, OH, and Suzie (Bruce) Horowitz of California; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7 from 4 to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow on Thursday at 10 AM (additional visitation from 9:15 to 10 AM) at St. Francis Church in Toronto. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate, and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the US Army and Toronto American Legion. www.jefosterfh.com
