AMANDA LAWTHER

Amanda Praught Lawther, 35, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on June 23, 2025, at Magee-Womens Hospital, of Pittsburgh. Born on January 11, 1990, Amanda, affectionately known as “Sissy” and “Chuchi,” had an infectious, loving personality that captivated everyone she met.

Despite facing significant health challenges and disabilities, Amanda’s sudden passing was a profound shock to her family and friends,, who find comfort knowing she is now at peace, free of pain. Before her health struggles, Amanda was an exceptional emergency room nurse whose compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Her warmth and huge heart made her a beloved figure to all. Amanda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Phillip Praught Lawther; his cherished grandmother, “Grammy”; and her dear friend and love, Alicia Orlando.

She is survived by her devoted parents, Mike and Karen Miller; her loving grandparents, Jim and Linda Miller of VA, and Sonny and Janie Toothman, of New Martinsville; hers sisters and brothers-in-law, Ashley (Michael) Shockley and Jesica (Jeremy) Pauley; her cherished nieces and nephews, Gracie, Lexie, Jeremiah and Landon, whom she loved dearly as their “Chuchi”; her beloved boyfriend, Justin Friend, whom she considered her future husband; her six bonus nieces and nephews from her dear friend Alicia: Caleb, Chubby, Peyton, Dominic, Isaac and Zach; many cousins including Alex and Sarah, with whom she shared a special bond and who were known as ” the Babies” growing up; and countless aunts, uncles and friends who cherished her loving spirit.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 5-8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. Amanda’s radiant love and boundless compassion will forever shine in the heart of those blessed to know her.
