BRUCE “SAM” SUTTON

Bruce Evan “Sam” Sutton, 77, of Mingo Junction, died Monday, April 28, 2025, at Trinity West Hospital after a long battle with stomach cancer. He was cremated at Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, and his remains were spread in accordance with his wishes.
Born March 4, 1948, in Steubenville, Ohio, Sam was the son of Theodore and Della Sutton, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by six brothers: Richard, David, Paul, Rodger, Ralph, and Roy.
Sam is survived by his brother Norman Sutton; his daughter Dawn Sutton; five step-children, Dolvey Camp, Wesley Shockley, Jessica Likens, Herbert Humphrey, and Hank Humphrey; and seventeen grand- children.
A dedicated heavy machine operator for the Ohio Department of Transportation, Sam later served as a supervisor, keeping the roads safe and passable through countless snowstorms and mudslides in Jefferson and neighboring counties.
Sam was a loving and devoted father who taught all the children he raised that they could learn to do anything with enough determination. His family’s favorite memories include him playing music on his keyboard and teaching them how, as well as showing them how cars worked.
Friends could always count on Sam for a good story, mechanical advice, and a helping hand when asked.
The family is grateful to say that Sam received Christ before he died and to know that his passing isn’t “Goodbye”, but “See you soon.”
