DWAINE ‘BENNY’ McLAIN

Dwaine “Benny” McLain, 82, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 1943, in Ohio, the son of the late David McLain and Virginia McGinnis McLain.
Benny lived a full and meaningful life in both West Virginia and Virginia. He devoted 40 years of service to Barkhurst Construction before retiring in 2004. Known for his kind heart, Benny was always the first to lend a hand to a friend in need. He was also the life of the party–someone who could light up a room with his presence and make everyone feel welcome. In his early years, he and his first wife, Phyllis McLain, raised three children. Later, he married Stephanie Ann Cork McLain, and together they welcomed another daughter into their family.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his sons, Rodney McLain (Judy) of Weirton, WV, and Steve McLain (Stacy) of Kinards, SC; his daughters, Benna Brown (Bryan) of Weirton, WV, and Jesse McLain of Stephens City, VA; and his sister, Darla Garner (Terry) of Whitmire, SC. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his brother, Dave McLain.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at the American Legion Post 10, Weirton, West Virginia. The afternoon will begin with a Remembrance Service, followed by food and fellowship.
Arrangements are entrusted to Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Stephens City, Virginia.
