NORMA “DOTTY” SCOTT

Norma “Dotty” Dorothy (Byers) Scott, 81 of Colliers, WV, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at home.

Dotty was born on July 13, 1944 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Harold Byers and Virginia (Smith) Byers.

Dotty was a proud member of the Hooverson Heights Church of the Nazarene and the Brooke County Senior Center–two organizations she deeply cherished. She often spoke of how much these communities meant to her, and she took great pride in being a part of such meaningful and uplifting organizations. Professionally, Dotty worked at McGowan Insurance in Steubenville, OH, where her kindness, dependability, and cheerful spirit left a lasting impression.

Many will remember Dotty for her love of BINGO, dancing, and camping with family at Tappan Lake. She especially enjoyed cookouts, but above all, she adored Christmas–the lights, the music, and all the merriment brought her endless joy.

Dotty never met a stranger–only friends she hadn’t gotten to know yet. She had a deep love for her grandchildren, for people, and for life itself. She always saw the best in everyone. With a heart and smile five times bigger than most, she truly was an amazing person whose love and light will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Dotty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Williard E. Scott, who she deeply missed and four siblings, Clara Lee Sisinni, Jacqueline Kidd, Janet Dotson and Ronald Byers.

Dotty is survived by her two devoted sons, Gregory Scott and wife, Kim of Dixon, CA and William Scott and wife, Bobbie Jo of Follansbee, WV, seven grandchildren, Samantha Mailos and husband, Jaydes, Tyler, Haley, Jonathan and companion, Ariana, Selena, Will and Skyler, a great granddaughter, Korrina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with Pastor Ronald McGee, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
