RICHARD HUFFMAN

Richard E. Huffman, 73, of Chester, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2025, following a lengthy illness.

Born on October 9, 1952, in East Liverpool, Richard was the son of the late Beatrice Huffman Polchies and Bobby J. and Fay Haught.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bruce Polchies, Andy, Richie, and Kim Haught, Connie Mumford; brother-in-law, Louis Nagy, and son-in-law, Joseph Caughey.

Richard attended Oak Glen High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He later attended Kent State University. He was formerly employed at Mountaineer Race Track and Casino, where he worked as a Maintenance Manager. He was also a member of Laborers Local Union #809 and #1058. Richard was the proud owner of Bobby J’s Boxing Club, where he worked out alongside his best friend, Manny Volino, and held various positions working alongside his close friend, Chef Ray Stephens. He also worked as a bouncer at several local establishments.

Richard had a lifelong love of boxing. He was a Golden Gloves Champion and a Tough Man Contest Champion. He formerly attended First Christian Church in Chester. Strong-willed and faithful, Richard fought hard but loved even harder. He was a member of the Chester American Legion and the Newell American Legion, where he served as Vice Commander. Above all, he was most proud of being a “girl dad.” He cherished his time with his daughters and their families, especially traveling anywhere to watch his grandchildren in various sporting events.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Robyn Nagy Huffman, whom he married on July 8, 1978. He is survived by his daughters, Heather Brown (Melvin “Doob”), Teresa Faye Snider (Drew), and Maria Huffman Caughey; his grandchildren, Emma (Chase), Shane (Tia), Sarah, Zoey, Max, Mariah, Cruz, and Gunner; his siblings, Eric (Andrea), Clark, Brian, Mariann, Althea Polchies, and Robin Shingler; his in-laws, Tracy Nagy, Rick Nagy, Jeff Nagy (Elizabeth), and Jodi Headley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pastor Toby Wilson will celebrate Richard’s life on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Arner Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
