BESSIE McCAFFERY

She was born on March 31, 1929, the daughter of the late William H.H. and Gertrude Mechling of Follansbee-Eldersville Road.

She was a lifetime member of the Cove Presbyterian Church. In 1947, she graduated from Follansbee High School. After high school, she worked at Weirton Steel’s Strip Steel office until she got married. From there, she worked at Ohio River Steel Company in Toronto, OH until she started her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. McCaffery, in 1986; daughter, Tracy Lynne Jones; son-in-law, Larry Jones; brothers, Andrew and Forest Mechling; and sisters, Lois G. Lantz, Eunice V. Crabtree, and Bertha M. Wiegmann.

Surviving are her children Cynthia (J) Briscoe, Brenda (Kevin) Zech, Colleen (Fred) Kisner and Catherine McCaffery, grandchildren: Jason (Allison) Briscoe, Jared (Jaqueline) Briscoe, Courtney (Christopher) Krieger, Shannon Kisner, Tyler (Shay) Jones, and Kelsie Jones, great- grandchildren, Hazel and Harper Briscoe, Brynn, Brooke, and Marcus Briscoe, Kylie and McKenzie Krieger, Dawson, Tracy and Lorenzo Jones and Many nieces and nephews.

The family is honoring Bessie’s request to have no public visitation or viewing.

She will be laid to rest at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Florence, PA.
