CAROLYN BYERS
Carolyn Ann Byers, 68, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Youngstown, OH, Carolyn devoted her life to caring for others. She served as a paraprofessional at Stanton Elementary School, where she was known for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering support of children, students, and staff alike. Carolyn went beyond the classroom, actively leading Stanton Elementary in the meaningful effort of collecting “Hope Kits” for cancer patients, an effort dear to her heart that reflected her compassion and generosity.
Carolyn was the beloved wife of David “Trog” Byers, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and strong values. She was a devoted mother to Erin, David (Amy), and Lisa (Dustin), and a proud grandmother to Aren (Nydia), Brenden (Elise), Dean Byers, and Bryer Crawford. Her joy was made even greater with the recent arrival of her great-granddaughter, Stellina Byers.
She is also survived by her siblings: Cindy (Dave) Rawson, Jim Porter, and David (Deanna) Porter; her sister-in-law Amy Porter; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Murray Porter, and her brother, Ed.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Carolyn’s life on Tuesday, January 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a service, led by Pastor Amanda Crews, immediately following, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH.
Carolyn will be remembered for her gentle spirit and laughter, her servant’s heart, and the profound love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. www.jefosterfh.com
