JoANN LYNGSO
JoAnn Lyngso, age 91, died peacefully on November 20, 2025, with her immediate family at her side. Born June 24, 1934 in Weirton, West Virginia to Paul and Frances Kaska Slanchik, she was the middle of three girls. A graduate of Follansbee High School Class of 1952. Her first job was selling snacks to Millworkers.
After High School, she became the executive secretary to the manager of the Steubenville branch of Prudential Insurance, leading to a transfer to the Cleveland Division.
On June 28, 1958, she married Carl Lyngso. They raised their family in Olmsted Falls and North Olmsted, Ohio. Eventually transferring to Hartland, Michigan.
JoAnn and Carl enjoyed family vacations built around Insurance Convention trips across the US, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii. Ultimately retiring to Naples, they galavanted for a time between Florida and the Midwest in their 32 foot long Fifth Wheel RV.
As Mother, homemaker and accomplished cook, she was appreciated for her stuffed cabbage rolls, snickerdoodles, butterhorns, Christmas spritz cookies and cinnamon crown coffee cake.
JoAnn lived her faith in Jesus Christ daily. Active in Christian Women’s Club, she and Carl sang in a Billy Graham Crusade Choir, and performed many Christmas and Easter Cantatas of their local Churches. Even in the late stages of dementia, her steady Alto voice continued to praise the Lord.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Carl, her son Chris Lyngso, daughter Randi (Randy) Hart, Grandchildren Maren (Ray) Lee, Peter Lyngso, Steven (Kayla) Hart and great-grandsons Nathan and Finnley Hart, Sister Edith Staffileno, Sisters-in-Law Marianne (Jim) Goemmel, Rita Appel, Betty Solberg and Ellen Klein, and numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Jo”.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, “In-laws” Esther Jo and Carl Lyngso, Sister Dorothy Steffgen, and Brothers-in-law Jack Steffgen, Freddie Staffileno, Ed Appel, Tom Solberg and Bill Klein.
The family requests donations in JoAnn’s name to Berean Baptist Church, 1851 County Barn Road, Naples, FL 34112 A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
