MARIAN HOUSER

Marian E. Houser, 90, of Steubenville, Ohio was reunited with her husband James F. Houser on January 7, 2026 after passing at her brother’s home surrounded by her loving family. Marian was born on November 14, 1935 in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carlisle & Mary Elizabeth Sterling Davidson. Marian spent many years as the City Editor for the Steubenville Herald Star newspaper, followed by a well- deserved long retirement.

Marian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand- mother, sister, and friend to many. She was a pillar in the community, as demonstrated by her commitment to her family and her significant work for her hometown newspaper.

Marian loved spending time in the company of her family and friends–especially telling many great stories of the things she saw and the people she met–traveling, gardening, and cooking fantastic home- cooked meals (mostly from scratch). But Marian’s life can only be fully captured through the many memories we have with her, as there are too many to capture in any text.

Marian is preceded in death by her husband James F. Houser, Jr.; one son James D. Houser; two daughters, Pamela Pate and Jamie Yaworski; two brothers, Robert and Donald; and two sisters, June and Ruth. She is survived by her son, Robert Houser; daughter, Robin Clifton; her brother, Robert Davidson; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand- child; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm. Additional visitation on Saturday from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Marian’s family would like to thank SouthernCare Hospice and her niece Mimi for taking great care of Marian in her final days.
