ROBERT “ROB” LaPOSTA, SR.
Robert “Rob” Harold LaPosta, Sr., 81, of Paris, PA passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1944 in Washington, PA, son of the late Robert LaPosta and Florence E. Brown LaPosta. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Judith Ann Vajentic.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Jo Ann Hanlin LaPosta; daughter, Leslie Killen (Jerry); son, Robert H. LaPosta, Jr. (Tara); grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Killen, Grace, Ella, and Sydney LaPosta; and brother, Eugene F. LaPosta.
After graduating from high school, Robert earned a full football scholarship to attend the Virginia Military Institute. He later completed a master’s degree in teaching at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. A U.S. Army veteran, Robert served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor for each tour. During his military career, he and his family relocated 26 times while serving in the United States and Germany. He later retired as a Contract Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation, where he managed classified military contracts. Following retirement, Robert and his family settled in Paris and became members of Paris Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will take place Friday, January 23, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be Saturday from 10:00am until the funeral service at 11:00am, at Paris Presbyterian Church, 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, PA, with Rev. Nadia Stropich presiding. Military honors will take place prior to the service at church rendered by the US Army and American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Guards. Interment will take place at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
