TERRY MAMULA

Terry Dan Mamula, 85, passed away Sunday, January 25, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family in Steubenville, Ohio.

Born May 19, 1940, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Terry was a proud graduate of Martins Ferry High School, where he was a standout football player for the Purple Riders and was named an All-Ohio football player in 1957. He later attended Ohio State University on a football scholarship.

On July 4, 1960, Terry met the love of his life, Laura E. Pobolish. They were married on September 15, 1962, and shared 63 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children: Lisa Mamula Meddock (Shawn), Terry Mamula Jr. (Elisheba), Gregory Mamula (Steffanie Frangos), and Sherri Mamula Tandon (Sunil).

Terry is also survived by seven grandchildren: Shawn Meddock (Kellsie Brannen), Liam Meddock, Sonia Tandon, Melanie Mamula, Ajay Tandon, Gregory Mamula, and Ariana Mamula.

Terry dedicated 33 years of service to the Ohio State Highway Patrol and was elected Trooper of the Year five times. He also received multiple Superintendent’s Awards for marksmanship and later taught law enforcement techniques at Jefferson Community College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Dorothy Mamula, and his brother, Charles Mamula. He is survived by his wife, Laura; his children and grandchildren; his brother, Dan Mamula; and sisters-in-law, Doris Mamula and Carolyn Mamula.

Calling hours will be held Friday, January 30, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church, with viewing one hour prior. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
