GARY HOSTUTTLER SR.

Gary “Hoss” Lynn Hostuttler, Sr. of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends at home on February 10, 2026, at the age of 81. Gary was born on November 11, 1944, in Mannington, WV, to Wilburt and Mary Kathryn (Snodgrass) Hostuttler, one of seven children. Surviving Gary is his wife of 60 years, Linda (Showalter) Hostuttler.

Gary worked tirelessly, providing for his family, having spent 28 years working at Weirton Steel, 27 of which were at the Boiler House. He stayed active after retirement, working various jobs at Atwood Lake in Ohio and at Tomlinson Run State Park, where he enjoyed spending time outside. Gary loved his family and was happiest sharing stories with his six grandchildren about growing up down the river, saving an injured bald eagle, and possibly hitchhiking West to Colorado when he left home at 15. Gary would spend many hours enjoying the company of family and friends on his front porch, drinking black coffee out of his Dallas Cowboys mug.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburt and Mary Kathryn (Snodgrass) Hostuttler of Mannington, WV; his daughter, Sheila (Hostuttler) Hinerman; his sister, Cora Ann (Hostuttler) Forrest; and his brothers, Bill, Stanley, Alan, and Mark Hostuttler.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Gary Hostuttler, Jr., and his wife Becky; his son-in-law, Jim Hinerman; his brother, Larry Hostuttler; and his six grandchildren, James Hinerman II (Zack); Hannah (Hinerman) Hartzell (Isaac); Garet Hostuttler; Philip Hinerman; Levi Hostuttler (Taylor); and Wyatt Hostuttler. Gary will also be remembered by many extended family members and very close friends.

Friends may visit Gary’s family on Friday, February 13, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

Additional visitation will be held Saturday, February 14, from 10 am until the time of Gary’s 11 am Funeral Service at The Weirton First Church of the Nazarene, 475 Colliers Way, Weirton.
