MARLYN CUNNINGHAM
Marlyn R. Cunningham, 90, of Sardis OH and Fort Myers Beach, FL, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, uncle, and friend passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born to the late Ronald H. and Sylvia R. (Tisher) Cunningham on November 27, 1935, in New Martinsville, West Virginia. He graduated from Sardis High School in Monroe County and married Gladys M. Mallett on May 8, 1955. Marlyn worked at Conalco for more than thirty years until his retirement in 1999. He owned or operated several insurance agencies for many years and until recently he also owned rental properties in Sardis.
Marlyn was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Grand Lodge of the Masons (Clarington, OH). He was a member and Past-Potentate of the Osiris Shrine Club (Wheeling, WV), Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (Cambridge, OH), Royal Order of Jesters (Wheeling, WV) and several other Shrine Clubs. He was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church and the Men’s Club of Bayside Estates (FL).
Marlyn had a lifetime love of Fort Myers Beach where he and Gladys spent more than 20 winters and where he enjoyed boating and fishing.
Preceded in death by his wife and parents, Marlyn is survived by his children Danny (Jolinda) Cunningham and Brenda (Titus) Workman; grandchildren Brett (Natasha) Cunningham, Scott (Taraneh) Lucas, and Renee (David Bowman) Lucas; great- grandchildren Maya Lucas and Sophia Cunningham.
The family would like to thank Barrington Terrace of Fort Myers and Vitas for their care of Marlyn. Grisell Funeral Home of Sardis, OH, is handling arrangements. To honor the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. They invite you to celebrate Marlyn’s memory in your own way, memorial contributions may also be made to the Osiris Shrine Club in Wheeling.
