MARTIN CHARLES WEIHER
“His friends, there are many. His foes – are there any?”
Martin Charles Weiher, 81, of Steubenville, passed away March 16, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital following complications from a car accident. He was born on October 3, 1944, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Martin Charles Weiher and Emma Virtue Williams. In 1962, Chuck graduated from Steubenville High School, where he was a standout three-sport athlete.
A tremendous handball player who won many local tournaments, sports remained a central part of his life for years after high school. Following graduation, he worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation until his retirement.
Chuck was an avid Steubenville Big Red sports fan, strongly supporting his alma mater all of his life.
On August 29, 1997, Chuck married Carol Jean Weiher. The couple spent many years together until she preceded him in death in November 2025.
In his later years, Chuck could be found surrounded by his adoring grandchildren, sharing with them his passion for fishing, throwing baseball, swimming – primarily at Bellevue Park – and teaching them to mow the lawn.
He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends, who recall his easy smile and gentle spirit.
He is survived by three children, Jodi Marquis of Steubenville, Tracy (Pete) Sergakis of Columbus and Karey (Stan) Albaugh of Texas; two bonus children, Tim (Karen) Shugart and Tamy Yocum; ten grandchildren, Brittany, Lucas, Nicholas, Sadie, Trey, Lani, Kassie, Peter, Camy and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Heidi, Ella, Brody and Fallon; nephews Rick (Karen) Kirkpatrick & Kent (Angie) Kirkpatrick and beloved pets Lady and Lacy
Chuck is preceded in death by his wife, Carol, parents and Mary Jane “Gus” Bozich.
Per Chuck’s wishes, there are no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
