CECILIA HORKULIC

Cecilia Ann Horkulic, age 87 a long-time resident of Toronto, Ohio but very much the world traveler and adventurer who never knew a stranger having many friends at home and abroad. She passed away surrounded by her loving family Tuesday March 31, 2026 under the care of Ohio Valley Hospice at Weirton Medical Center Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1938 in Toronto, the daughter of the late Peter and Savia (Vidrine) Bonfine. In addition to her parents Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Horkulic in 1983 whom she married April 18, 1964; brother, Robert William Bonfine; sisters, Ermaline Teter and Magdalene (Slater) Vandewater.

Cecilia was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto; her memberships include, the Jefferson County Democrat party, Red Hat Ladies, Toronto Beautification Committee and the Toronto High School Red Knight Woman’s Club and the Toronto Alumni Association.

She was a 1956 graduate of Toronto High School and earned an Associate Degree from Eastern Gateway Community College.

Cecilia was a Deputy Clerk for the Jefferson County Clerk of Courts for many years.

Cecilia leaves behind her beloved family including daughters, Mary Anne Horkulic and Melissa DeMary, son in law Patrick DeMary; grandchildren, Cary Eckard and partner Steven Search, Holly Eckard and FiancÈ Greg Ross, Angelo DeMary and Celia DeMary; great granddaughter, Emma June Search; sisters, Yolanda Zamborsky and Rosemary Bonofine along with many cousins. She was a friend to many.

Cecilia’s visitation will be held Friday April 10th from 10 to 11 AM at the back of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, corner of Loretta Avenue and Findley Street Toronto.

Funeral Mass with Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday at St. Francis with celebrant Father Thomas Vennitti. Interment will follow at the Toronto Cemetery.
