SAM DOLFI

Sam Dolfi of Naples, Florida, and past resident of Easton, Avon, and Farmington, Connecticut, passed away on April 19, 2026. Sam was born on September 7, 1929, in Dillonvale, Ohio to Mary (Spadafora) and Nello Dolfi.

Following graduation from Dillonvale High School, Sam worked at the railroads and coal mines prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1949. He served for four years. Two and a half of those years were served in the Far East during the Occupation of Japan and the Korean conflict.

Sam graduated from The Ohio State University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Industrial Management. He was a lifetime member of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity.

Sam joined the General Electric Company following graduation in GE’s Employee Relations Training Program, working at many locations, businesses, and with the Corporate staff over his 33 year plus career. In the mid-eighties, the GE Board of Directors appointed him a GE Corporate Officer, assigning him as Vice President of Human Resources at GE Aircraft Engines, Cincinnati, Ohio. Sam retired from GE in 1990. Sam was past Chairman of the Aerospace Industries Human Resources Council, member of the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Manufacturers Association, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council of the University of Connecticut Health Center, and also served on the board of the Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Health Foundation. Sam was a member of the Country Club of Farmington, Connecticut, as well as a member of the Country Club of Naples. Sam was also a lifetime member of the American Legion, McCook Post 529, Dillonvale, Ohio.

Sam truly loved and lived for his family. He met his dear wife, Jan, at The Ohio State University. The love of his life, for 53 plus years, predeceased him in 2010. He was also predeceased by his brother, Nello Dolfi, sister Rose Kasal, and nephew Robert Dolfi.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Lisa Dolfi, and sons Jeffrey Dolfi (Jennie) and Scott Dolfi. In addition, Sam is survived by seven grandchildren, Scott Bell (Leslie), Katherine Eves (Ryan), Liz Dolfi (Jay Ackley), Becca Dolfi Lang (Ryan), John Dolfi (Monica), Kelsey Ponesse (RJ), and Emmie Dolfi (Jessie). Also surviving are nine greatgrandchildren who are Harper and Quinn Eves, Braxton and Scotty Bell, Anna and Robert “Bo” Ponesse, Rhys and Atlas Dolfi, and Simon Ackley. Michael Dolfi, Mary Ann Bishop, Richard Kasal (Millie), Mark Kasal (June), and several nieces and nephews are also survived by Sam.

Sam will also be greatly missed by his dear lifelong friend, neighbor, and traveling companion, Erma Hawley of Naples, Florida, and Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Sam had a true love of sports of all types. High school, college, and professional sports exhilarated Sam! He was a long time member of the OSU Presidents Club as well as a supporter of the Buckeye football team, having two or more tickets each year until his passing.

Funeral services will be private.
