DAVID CLAYTON

David “OJ” Allen Clayton, 68, of New Martinsville, WV earned his wings on Saturday, May 2, 2026 while at the New Martinsville Health Care and Rehab.

OJ was born May 23, 1957, in Philippi, WV son of Rosalea (Shaffer) Clayton of New Martinsville, WV and the late Dorsey A. Clayton.

He was a retired employee of the Adena Industries and now attends Northwood, a graduate of Magnolia High School. David loved all sports. Magnolia sports was his first love followed by WVU sports and then Pittsburgh. OJ loved to visit with people. He was a Protestant by Faith and attended the Shilo Church of the Brethren in Shilo, WV.

In addition to his father, Dorsey A. Clayton, he was preceded in death by brother, Timothy Clayton; three uncles, Daniel (Becky) Clayton, David D. Shaffer and James “Tim” Poling; aunt, Linda Shaffer and niece, Carol Clayton.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Rosalea Clayton; are two aunts, Carolyn Sue Poling of Tacey, WV and Judith Shaffer of Tacey, WV; uncle, Jim Shaffer of Middletown, OH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 3-7 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Jarvis Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville. Then OJ will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, from noon until time of service at 2 p.m., at the Shiloh Church of the Brethren, 1789 Shilo Road, Moatsville, WV. Burial to follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
