Raymond Bell Sr.

Raymond F. Bell, Sr., 85, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday April 29, 2026 at Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, OH.

He was born February 5, 1941 in Gallipolis Ferry, WV, a son of the late Leslie George Bell and Ida Mae (Pearson) Bell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Richard Bell, Robert “Pee Wee” Bell and Barbara Jean Bell; and four half-siblings, Nanny Wineman, Leo Meaige, Teddy Rainy and Daisy Shock.

Raymond was an electrician at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper and then he worked at Air Products and Chemicals, retiring in 2004. He served his country in the US Navy and Navy Reserves and is a member of the Toronto American Legion Post 86.

Surviving are his wife, Joan E. (Brockway) Bell whom he married March 10, 1962; a daughter, Tammy S. Bell-West of Steubenville, OH; a son, Raymond F. (Michele) Bell, Jr., of Toronto, OH; four grandchildren, Raymond E. Bell, Natasha Bell, Russell West and his fiance Darla Bingham and Devvon Bell and his fiance Mollie Chetock; and one great-grandson, Raymond R. Bell.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Avenue, Mingo Junction, OH on Wednesday May 6th from 2-6 p.m. and also on Thursday May 7th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at Noon with Pastor Dr. Vaughn Foster, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH, with military honors by the Toronto American Legion.
