Diane Montgomery

Jennifer ‘Diane’ Dixon Montgomery (“Mimi”), daughter of the late COL (Ret.) William Dixon and Alberta Harris Dixon, passed away in the early morning hours of June 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

To know Diane was to know joy. She was known for her strong Christian faith, kindness, generosity, and contagious enthusiasm. She loved to dance, laugh, encourage others, and cheer on the Chiefs football and cheerleading teams.

One of Diane’s favorite pieces of advice was, “If somebody is mean and rude to you, that doesn’t mean you have to be mean and rude back. Always try to speak and acknowledge people. Kill the hate in them with kindness.”

Visitation will be held Friday, June 19 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. A gathering will follow the wake at the Smithfield American Legion.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, at noon at Tree of Life in Martins Ferry, OH. A repast will follow at the Recreation Center in Martins Ferry.
