DAVID TUTTLE

David Robert Tuttle, age 73, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Trinity West Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in 1953 in Steubenville, Ohio, David was the son of the late Robert and Antonette Tuttle. He was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School and a proud member of the 1971 undefeated, championship Crusader football team, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of family with his teammates.

David was a retired pipefitter with Local 495, working for 40 years in the trade before retiring to focus on his favorite pastime, golf. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics from 1998 until 2017. He also served as Commander for the Sons of the American Legion Post 33 from 2002 until 2025. David was also inducted into the Steubenville Catholic Central Athletic Hall of Fame, as were both of his sons. An avid golfer, David scored two holes-in-one in his golf career, and he enjoyed playing a round with his sons and grandsons.

He was a regular at the YMCA, where he went for his morning workout. He frequented Federico's and the Steubenville Farmers Market. He was a member of the PAC and had a fondness for lottery tickets. He loved hot peppers and Sunday spaghetti dinners. David grilled a mean burger and always had cold beer on hand.

David was a jokester at heart, the kind of person who never knew a stranger and could make everyone around him feel welcome. He is remembered for his humor, warmth, and the easy way he connected with people, and everyone who knew him loved him. He loved golf, football, and old westerns, but more than that, his sons were a great source of pride and joy in his life. He also cherished the love of his life, "Woe." Their love story began in 1974 when David paid a kid a quarter to tell the counter attendant at Der Dog Haus in the former Fort Steuben Mall that he loved her. They were married 6 months later.

David is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jody; sons Dave and his wife Amber, and Nick and his partner Meghann; grandchildren David, Peyton, and Emily; brothers Fr. Richard, and Perry and his wife Robin; mother-in-law, Marilyn Izzi; his cat Lulu, one niece, several nephews, extended family; and so many good friends who will miss his presence, his joking, and his laugh.

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. David was a man of great faith. He served as an usher at Holy Rosary Church and never missed Sunday morning Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Steubenville Catholic Central High School Athletic Department.

Viewing will be held Monday, August 17, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, August 18 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Paul Hrezo will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
