REBECCA ‘BECKY’ SARDELLI

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Rebecca "Becky" Ann Sardelli Ayers, 67 of Bethany, Brooke County. She died peacefully on August 6, 2026, surrounded by her family shortly after a Stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents Mario and Victoria Sardelli, and her sisters Donna Norman (Kenneth), Janet, and Sandra. She is survived by her husband Glenn Ayers, daughters Nicolette Haspel (Dusty) and Abigail Ayers, stepdaughter Amber Dowdle (Dan), grandson Shane Lucey, and brother-in-law Kenneth Norman.

Born April 9, 1959, in Weirton and raised on Cleveland Avenue, Becky graduated from Weir High School in 1977. She played clarinet in the marching band and was a majorette her senior year, marching in the 1976 Bicentennial Parade in Philadelphia. After graduation she worked as a professional beautician in the D.C. area before returning to Weirton.

She met Glenn in 1981; they married in Steubenville on April 20, 1990, and moved to Bethany that same year. In their early years together they enjoyed camping, hunting, and riding dune buggies in the mountains of central West Virginia.

Becky dedicated herself to being a loving wife and mother while working part-time at Napa Auto Parts, Bethany College Dining Services, and Zatta's Auto Sales. She later became a cashier and stocker at Chambers General Store, where for nearly 15 years she was a beloved community fixture known for her warm "howdy!" and kind smile.

She enjoyed crocheting, baking, road trips, solitaire, and especially time with her daughters. She loved history and joined Abigail on adventures tied to her studies, including the Mothman Festival, Gettysburg, and New York City.

After a serious car accident in April 2022 left her with significant nerve damage, Glenn retired early to care for her full-time. She regained some independence through physical therapy and enjoyed a few more road trips before her health declined. She has now gone home to the Lord, free of pain and limitation.

Becky will be cremated under the care of Reasner's Funeral Home of Wellsburg. A celebration of Beck's life will take place on August 29, 2026 from Noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg, WV with Rev. Erin James- Brown officiating.
